We took a little trip to Newport this weekend for my mother-in-law’s birthday. I had never been to the Oregon beach in the winter.
It was really wonderful.
The weather was perfectly clear and cold (around 40 degrees). Elizabeth was thrilled with everything.
We could see the Yaquina Head lighthouse flashing.

Elizabeth was even willing to get her hands dirty (which is really rare).
I had turned around from watching Elizabeth and realized we were being watched.
Luckily we didn’t end up in a beach version of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
When we left Elizabeth said “goodbye ocean, goodbye dirt, goodbye birds”.
